This may sound like a stupid question to you. But what the hell does "bump" mean? I've been trying to figure it out, but it just won't come to me. I'm sure it will be really obvious once someone explains.

A poster will "bump" a thread(ie write bump) just to keep it going if they don't have anything to say or add to the thread, but would like to see the thread stay active. If threads don't get hits they drift further back into the higher pg. numbers and eventually disappear. Does that answer your question, 246?

Is playing the pronoun game in absolutely every single conversation and interview an Australian thing or something??? The only thing I've ever read where she didn't play the pronoun game throughout the entire interview was the whole, extremely awkward and forced sounding, 'I love the way a man smells and thinks and pisses or whatever' thing from a couple months back. After reading all these posts on the last couple pages with her doing the pronoun dance I have no doubt that she is at least bi and is actually not hiding that fact anymore. You can't do that prounoun thing so often and so blatantly and not realize that you are doing it or that it is going to come across a certain way. It would be very easy for her to say 'man' in every one of those posts ('I'm just waiting for the right man') instead of the ubiquitous 'person'. The girl's definitely into chicks!!

Hehe, my mother asked me if she's gay. If you knew my mother, you'd know that that is definitely a sign that the girl just isn't fooling anyone anymore!! Well, it's either a sign of that or the impending apocalypse. I'll choose the Nicole is gay and ain't nobody fooled route.

Here's my theory: Nicole is talking a lot (and I do mean a lot) about honestly in interviews lately. She's probably tired of having to lie because of Tom Cruise. They most likely do have some kind of post-marriage contract stipulating what she can do and say. But a contract can't cover *everything* and it's likely the lawyers missed something as subtle as the pronoun game, so there's a loophole she's using, as much as she possibly can. You have to wonder if Tom and his minions have even noticed. A contract would be covering obvious things like answers to direct questions though, hence the awkward rants about "man-smell".

Don't you think celebrities who are vague about pronouns or use photo ops as exactly what they are - publicity - know what they're doing? They're getting press, getting people to talk about them. Good or bad, photos in US or InTouch or hundred post threads like us and mentions on gawker and defamer make these celebrities even more famous. And get them more free clothes and vactions and probably get them more money for their next movie. I think we're all being pretty naive if we don't think Nicole and Naomi know exactly what they're doing. And by the way, that doesn't get us any further in figuring out their relationship. Lots of smoke and mirrors in my opinion. I'll bet they slept together a couple times when they were young and have been platonic friends since then. But who knows? I could be totally wrong.

I can SO imagine Nicole coming home to her girl lover (whoever it may be) after that interview came out, and her lover, let's call her Naomi, goes: "You love the way a men SMELLS??" and they both burst out laughing.

r251, I agree completely. They were using their relationship for publicity (regardless of the true nature of that relationship). It's simple, two pretty women look better than one, and especially Naomi got a lot of mentions as "Nicole's best friends" that she wouldn't have otherwise. But they seem to have stopped now. I blame this thread! hehe.

They really have stopped going to events together etc. I miss those old times. It can't be because of this thread lol, but it seems that they aren't PDAing any longer with each other. Did someone see Naomi at Live8 in Philly btw? She was presenting Keith Urban I think and I missed cause I watched the London event the whole time. (and still am)

r249, just out of curiosity why does she think Nicole is gay? just cause she's been single for such a long time? that's mainly one of the reasons my mom think someone's lesbian, heh.

I have no idea, R260. I didn't want to get into a whole discussion with her about it. I don't think it's because she's been single for a while though because my mother doesn't follow celebrity dating enough to even know that which is why I thought it was so strange that she asked me that at all. Hell, maybe she saw some pics in the paper of her groping and staring dreamily into Naomi's eyes and just put two and two together. But, really, when Midwestern, middle-aged, non celebrity following, semiconservative (although still Bush hating) and kind of prudish women like my mother are starting to come to the same conclusions that we do here on DL, there is definitely something going on there!!

so.. she does from time to time mention how she really wants to find a good man to fall in love with, who would be great for her kids etc. before Tom she didn't have any official b/f's I think when she was big in AU. and after Tom she haven't had any either. seriously, how hard can it be for Nicole to find someone who would be willing to date her?! plus she's surrounded by actor hunks all the time. either she really is a loner or she prefers women. and i wanna know what the case is damnit! and well I loved her answer when she got the question what she first thought was the hottest thing with Tom and she answered his biceps! has that man ever worn anything with a long sleeve? ...the caption of this pic is kinda funny in a non lesbian way but still, plus look at her amazing body and the black hair suits her IMO!

^uhm, not always. -->"Oh, no question. Give me the love. A great, enduring love that’s complete? Please. I’m there. And I think, in some ways, at the moment, my work is my love, because I haven’t found the man to love yet. Which I know is a terribly un-feminist thing to say. But it’s true. Still, I’m going to search and I’m also going to be incredibly picky, because in terms of my children, I can’t make a mistake. So I'd rather not have anyone then settle for the wrong person.«" but yeah I know she is really good at the pronoun game! this one sounds like something that I would say (nope, I'm not out): -->"I felt that that was it [with Tom], and if I believed there was only one person for me, I'd be in a very bad position right now. I think it's just whether or not you find that person-because I think there's probably a whole bunch of them-and it's a question of whether your paths cross at the time when they should. Because a lot of it is timing. That's something you have to give over to; you can't control it. You can tell yourself, Id rather have somebody then nobody, or, Oh well, they'll make a good companion or be someone to grow old with, but I'd rather be alone than in something that I felt compromised in. I want to be able to give everything. And I think that all goes back to the gravestone, when you see those two names together , where they're buried together, and I suppose that all links up to the incurable romantic: who's the person who will be sharing that with you? And I hope there's someone." Seriously!
