he he, cute r570. And 569, I can see where you're coming from. I doubt all the time these rumours that they are lovers because some times really close friends are just that comfortable with eachother (so comfortable they will kiss etc) - but, when I see nic & naomi together and that look they give eachother, I just want to squeal! I WANT TO BELIEVE!

after watching a few nic/naomi interviews I kind of gather that Nicole has a crush on Naomi more so than Naomi has a crush on Nicole. Nicole giggles, smiles and gleams when Naomi is brought up in interviews. She enthusiastically talks about her as well. In that GMA interview where she laughed and fidgeted uneasily once Naomi was mentioned (in the same way I act when someone mentions my crush) as well as the fact that it was Nicole who suggested that Naomi be her date, in which Naomi replied in the other GMA that they 'should do' but she also mentioned she was going with her boyfriend. I think nicole just really needed a stable relationship and found that in Naomi, but Naomi was with Heath. That's a theory... but that was a while back.

Nicole is probably bi, leaning rather heavily towards women, while Tom is really, really gay, but can get it up for a woman once a decade. Tom was really desperate to seem straight, and Nicole was really desperate to get a proper family and kids. She probably didn't consider having a family with a woman a possibility at the time, but with her talk lately about raising children with an ungendered "partner" she probably has considered it now. So two catholics with sexuality issues really, really wanting to be a proper heterosexual couple, if for slightly different reasons. It truly was a bearding match made in heaven. And I believe they really tried to make it real, to make it work. That sad phone transcripts certainly points to that. It also points to what I think is one of the main the reasons it all fell apart. It was too much of a strain to keep it going, especially for Tom, and the whole pregnancy thing was probably the last straw. During the marriage Tom was wrestling with gay porn stars, but only wrestling, cause that's not *really* gay, you know, so it wasn't like he was even unfaithful or anything. And Nicole with her very close dear femaly friends that she likes to kiss in a not at all sexual way. The reason Tom felt it was necessary to jump on Oprah's couch and so forth was probably because he was so blissfully happy to finally find another woman that could make him feel like he was straight, at least for a little while.

r567, the 10 year contract rumour refers to an actual contract that Nicole was supposed to have signed at the time they got married, basically saying she'd be his wife for 10 years, have two kids yada yada. But the California law you mention, that nullified prenups after 10 years, provided Tom with a good reason to dump Nicole before she could legally run off with half of his ginormous fortune.

At this point, the only way Nicole could be totally straight is if she's purposely trying to appear not straight to annoy Tom and his possee of lawyers.

I think Nicole often pings more when she's in character. She also pinged more back when she was with Tom. She's a pretty good actress and I think she basically knows how to not ping when she wants to. And one of the reasons she appears "cold" is because she's often basically shut down, emotionally. I also think that the whole fragile, sensitve woman persona she's got going now is well, not exactly fake, because I think that's definitely part of her, but only part. Back when she was with Tom she was more assertive. But I think after the divorce she fell into that fragile role, and I think she liked it. It's a great way to get people off your back wihtout looking controlling. I think that lifting that part of her personality up to a public persona was definitely a conscious choice.

I agree about that, if you watch old interviews with her back in the Tom days she was less of an ice queen, private yes but not so introvert and cold. She's warm in most interviews now-a-days also but I think you definitiely can tell she's has a professional persona/image she "plays" upon. She also come across as more nervous in interviews now. Don't blame her though.

r580 - I was looking at that particular photo shoot! Nicole is so hot as a tom boy, she just looks so casual and less 'prissy'. HOTTx100 It seems that everyone thinks that Nicole is more bi than Naomi? But I was kind of put off by that interview concerning the rumours that Nic was a lesbian and how she sad she loves the way a 'man smells blah blah men men men'.

That's true r583, we all were. But keep in mind, officialy Tom also says no, he's not gay, so does Marcia Cross, so did Rock Hudson, and yada yada. Plus, many found Nic's rant not very believable... I remember comments like "Someone's got to teach her how REAL straight women talk."

r583: There are also rumours that she's still under contract with Tom regarding what she can say about their relationship and her own sexuality etc. I think this was already discussed before on this thread. Nicole even mentions the value of their post-marriage "celebrity goodwill" in her divorce papers.

BTW, 583, that quote you mention originally comes from Playboy, and one of the most interviews she's done. Taken in context I think that statement is rather revealing. PLAYBOY: Do you enjoy it when people praise your physical charms, such as your bottom? KIDMAN: No. I would like Jennifer Lopez's butt. I think hers is cute. PLAYBOY: Some women find J. Lo or, say, Angelina Jolie as sexy as men do. Is J. Lo a woman you'd be curious to kiss? KIDMAN: No, I don't want to kiss her. I don't want to kiss somebody I know. I'm quiet about my fantasies. In a strange way I'm a sensualist. I love smells. I love to touch things. I love to taste things. The senses are important to me. You sort of keep them alive no matter what your age. No matter what role you take on in your life, they're part of it. PLAYBOY: Have you ever wondered whether it would be possible for you to spend your life with another woman? KIDMAN: It would be far easier to go, "Oh, I wish I loved women!" But I don't. I mean, I love them, but physically, chemically, they just don't do it for me. I love the way a man thinks. I love the way a man smells. I love the way men look. That's what I like and what I'm drawn to. I'm hooked on the male physique--hooked on it! PLAYBOY: What's the first thing you notice about a man? KIDMAN: His mind, and then I love hands. It's about the way he holds you, what he does with them. I love the male psyche as well. There's a black-and-white to it, a sort of simplicity I like. I have such an enormous number of male friends that everyone thinks I have brothers. It's not threatening, and I can ask questions and get a lot of answers. I actually know quite a bit about men. I don't judge their decisions or urges.

Well, here's a fun comparison. Note what Tom says about his sisters and women, and compare it to what Nicole says about her male friends and men in the above interview. She is more wordy, but the essence is pretty much identical. "RD: Were you always close to your sisters? Cruise: Always. Being raised with women, I saw their side of things, how if something happened with a boyfriend, it upset them. I got an understanding. RD: You seem to have a real respect for women. What is it that you like so much about them? Cruise: They smell good. [Laughs] They look pretty. I love women. I do."

"No, I don't want to kiss her. I don't want to kiss somebody I know. I'm quiet about my fantasies." I love that part, it's so mysterious and yet so revealing. I still don't fully get what "I don't want to kiss somebody I know" is all about. That's just too strange. But put into context with some quotes from earlier interviews it does make some kinda sense. --- "And I tend to do a lot of lying around on my bed (laughs). I daydream a lot, and people ask "what are you doing?" And I go "um -- lying around". I don’t know, can you do that? CC: Everyone needs lying-around time. NK: I love it. I can lie around for hours on end, doing literally nothing but thinking. And I realise that people don’t do that a lot, cause every time they encounter me doing it, it’s like "What are you doing? Aren’t you doing anything?" I’ve always been able to do it. And I think that’s what can be frustrating about me too, because I can just exist in my head quite easily and not have to talk. I can go a long time without talking. CC: Is there anything you can reveal about what you’re daydreaming? NK: So many things. So much, you know. It passes through so many fantasies." --- "In fact, she says, "I'm very good at daydreaming. I can go to extremes. That means I can actually lie around and do nothing. Literally exist in my head." And what's she thinking? "Lots of things. It's embarrassing. Like my sister would say, 'What have you done this afternoon?' Nothing. I can go from incredibly focused to incredibly vague."

Haha 593, that was exactly what I was thinking. Most of what she's saying just doesn't make her sound very straight at all. "everyone thinks I have brothers"??? It's only when you get to Hollywood that you become gay. Gays are pathetic, they keep looking at every nook and corner and trying to find someone wealthier, with power that is in the same camp as them. Gays are freaks and inferior at best.

The Playboy interview is quite interesting. First of all even if she's a lesbian there's no way she could answer that question; "Yeah I wouldn't mind being with a women, bring 'em on!" She's been married to Tom-friggin'-Cruise for 10 years mind you. And since I think she's bisexual it make sense she would talk about her attractation to men. Although it's weird that she goes all "Oooh I love how they smell, hooked I tell you!" but when she gets asked about men in OTHER magazines she always talks about the importance of intelligence etc. but in Playboy she went overboard to make it sound credible. And look at how she leaves the question of kissing Jennifer(a female) open. Also someone on another board told me that it was a friend of hers that interviewed her in PB, now why would friend even ask those questions if they all ready knew she was straight IRL. What Tom Cruise said is so fucking funny it's almost unbelievable.

this probably has been posted but I think it's cute: NEWSWEEK: "Naomi, you’re having such a great moment right now with “Mulholland Drive.” How do you resist saying yes to a million scripts and going too fast? Watts: For me the temptation is, yes, I want to do everything, because I haven’t worked. The material I’m reading now has elevated from what I was reading before by about 1,000 percent. I mean, I wish I could fit it all in. And it sounds ridiculous, because a year ago I didn’t have anything. Nicole, you said earlier that it’s unbelievable to be sitting here at the table with Naomi. Kidman: It’s beautiful. It makes me cry, actually, because Naomi’s like my sister. I am genuinely... [Kidman sees that Watts is tearing up and starts tearing up herself. Kidman laughs.] Oh, God, now you’ve started it! Thornton: Now I’m gonna cry! Kidman: This is not that kind of friendship where it’s like, “Oh, yeah, we were friends.” We’ve shared boyfriends, breakups, bottles of wine when we thought our lives were over. I mean, every single thing you can imagine She moved into my house when I got divorced and took care of me. And now we sit at this table. From Australia. That’s kind of wild, really." ....my fave part: "I mean, every single thing you can imagine." Oh, be still my heart!
